Celebrating Martin Luther King Day
The first two MLK Day celebrations consisted of special chapels and discussions of selected speeches by Dr. King during adviser meetings. The schedule allowed all classes to meet for 45 minutes. In the third year, Jane Elliot's three hour program necessitated our moving to a full day program.

For several successful years we enjoyed dramatic productions ("edutainment" according to one of our student organizing committee members) in which actors portrayed civil rights figures. The schedules included "teach-in" sessions presented by faculty volunteers as well as some films. To participate in the "day on" initiative, we began organizing on and off campus service projects for seniors.
